Summer Hair Care Routine

Hey, gfs! I hope you are having an awesome and sunny day like we are here in NC!

LET’S TALK HAIR!

For those of you who don’t know I recently got my hair cut, after over a year of growing it out! It feels so fresh and healthy again.. I’m in love.

I feel like whenever I get a new haircut, it inspires me to get back into treating my hair right.

So im gonna share with you all my summer hair care routine…

I struggled for a while with losing my hair like crazy.

Clumps of hair were falling out of my hair anytime I washed it. I also struggled with an extremely dry scalp so it was time to switch up the products I was using and try some new items.

I’m so happy with my hair care routine right now, because it’s simple but effective.

I’m gonna share with you girls everything from my current shampoo to my favorite dry shampoo.

Summer Hair Care Routine

  1. Brush Through Dry Hair

Before I hop in the shower I like to make sure my hair is tangle free. I just use a typical paddle brush to brush through my hair from root to ends.

  1. Exfoliate Scalp

I use a scalp exfoliator “brush” to massage my scalp before getting my hair wet.

Using this tool before washing my hair helps lift any dead skin (I know.. gross). I will use this again when I shampoo my hair for extra benefits.

  1. Shampoo and condition

After getting my hair wet I use the Tea Tree shampoo — massaging it into my scalp.

I like to focus the shampoo at the base of my neck to make sure I get any product or grease build up.

Then, I’ll use the same scalp exfoliator to gently work the shampoo into my scalp and further exfoliate.

After rinsing the shampoo I will apply the Tea Tree conditioner, focusing on the ends of my hair. I then leave the conditioner in for the remainder of the shower.

  1. Dry Hair Using Microfiber Towel

Microfiber towels are amazing for drying wet hair.

They are gentle, effective and prevent frizz. I get my microfiber towel wrap on Amazon or at a store like Marshalls.

If you would rather, you can get a pack of XL white 100% cotton t-shirts from Walmart and those work great as well!

  1. Leave in Products

To be honest, I don’t put a lot of leave in products in my hair.

I’ll add hair oil to my ends, but that’s about it. I use hair oil from the drugstore, but really want to try the ITS a 10 leave in product

I’ll brush through my wet hair using a wet brush. I only use a wet brush on my hair after a shower because it helps prevent breakage.

  1. Dry Hair

To dry my hair I will either just let it air dry or use a blow dryer and a round brush.

I like blow drying my hair occasionally because I find it holds my hair style whether that be curls or straight, longer.

  1. Style

I always style my hair by either curling it or straightening it.

You can check out how I curl my hair in this post.

Before I apply any heat to my hair I apply a heat protectant spray. I love this one, because it smells amazing and leaves my hair extra shiny.

  1. Finish

The last thing I do to finish off my haircare is using a frizz tamer wand!

Girls… this thing is amazing.

It’s a gel like product that is in a mascara tube. You use the wand to get rid of any frizz or flyaways.

I have SO many baby hairs and breakage at my roots so this little wand is exactly what I needed.

The last thing I wanted to share about my hair care routine is my favorite dry shampoo

I don’t wash my hair everyday. Usually, about every 3-4 days I will wash my hair so dry shampoo is my best friend during the days in between.

My favorite dry shampoo is this one. Sometimes I will apply the dry shampoo at night, put my hair up and go to sleep so the product can absorb all the oil by morning.

That’s it for my summer hair care routine!

What are some of your guys favorite hair care products? I would love to know!
