As we dive deep into winter, I am sure like most of you, my skin changes. It is no longer producing a ton of oil, has a hard time holding onto moisture, and needs some TLC. As of late, I have been switching up my skincare products to help alleviate some of the winter skincare blues, and my skin is now on the mend. My best advice when choosing skincare products is to tailor them to the season. For me, in the summer I am more oily, so I buy products tailored more for oily skin. However, in the winter I need skincare that is going to boost hydration.
With that being said, I have found some amazing skincare products this year for winter. Some products I bought a few months ago while others I have owned and used for years. Many of these products I am sure many of you already use while others may be something new you can try. If you are wanting to know more about my in-depth skincare routine check out how I double cleanse and my skincare routine during the summer of 2020.
To make it easy for you guys, I am breaking down all the winter skincare products currently on my counter and what makes them so amazing.
First Aid Beauty Pure Face Cleanser:
I love First Aid Beauty as a brand because their products are made for sensitive skin. This cleanser is amazing because it is gentle, yet cleansing. You only need the smallest amount and it foams up into a nice lather that will cleanse your entire face and neck. I also love that this product contains antioxidants and is PH- balanced, so it won’t strip your skin during the winter months. A staple winter cleanser.
The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid
I use Hyluranic all year long, but during the winter I am more so heavy-handed with it. I am not going to lie, at first, I didn’t see the benefits from this product and then I realized I wasn’t using it correctly. The best way to use hyaluronic acids especially in the winter months is to apply either water or a hydrating facial mist or toner to your face. While your face is still wet apply the hyaluronic acid. This helps the hyaluronic acid pull the moisture into your skin. It’s a game-changer for dry winter skin.
COSRX AC Calming Facial Toner:
I have always been a huge fan of Korean skincare and this toner is no exception. I love this toner because it is mild and instantly hydrates the skin. The texture is a bit thicker than traditional toners which is why I think it works so well for the skin during the colder months. My favorite way to apply this toner is by putting a few drops in the palm of my hand and pressing it into my skin. While the toner is still wet on my face, I’ll add my hyaluronic acid.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream:
Hands down the best facial moisturizer I have ever used. It is thick while still absorbing into the skin nicely and has the best light eucalyptus scent. You get a big tub of this for $36, and it is worth every penny!
Rosehip Seed Oil:
I have used rosehip seed oil since highschool. It is one of my favorite facial oils because it’s light enough for acne-prone skin and helps to reduce inflammation. This facial oil is a bomb if you experience redness and inflammation during the winter season. It also helps to brighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream:
This night calming cream was one of the first Korean skincare products that I tried, and I fell in love with it. I don’t use this product every single night, but I tend to reach for it when my skin is feeling extra dry and red. It contains Centella Asiatica Extract, which helps to relieve skin redness and regenerate damaged skin.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask:
If you are wanting to buy one new product for your winter skincare routine, let it be this sleeping mask! This gel-like mask applies over all your previous skincare, locking in all the moisture. You head to bed with this product on, and you’ll wake up with glowing and hydrated skin!
