The fact that it is 2021 completely blows my mind. To say 2020 was a difficult year for all of us is an understatement. I think we are all hopeful this year will be at least a little bit better. Although 2020 was hard, it also was a reminder to focus on the things that matter in life, like your family and health. This past year has helped put me into a better mindset going into 2021, and I hope you all are feeling as thankful and ready for a fresh start as I am.
With that said, my new year’s goals are a little different than they have been in the past years. I am focusing more on how I want to improve my life rather than on traveling or accomplishing large goals that may not be realistic this year.
I have so much hope that this year will be amazing and I can’t wait to see where 2021 takes all of us.
Here are some of my 2021 goals:
CREATE CONSISTENCY IN MY LIFE WITH DAILY ROUTINES:
Every new year I come up with a theme word or phrase that I want to be the focus of my year. This year I decided on consistency. Ever since the pandemic started, graduating from college and having 4 different living arrangements my ability to have consistency in my life has lacked. A huge goal of mine is to create daily routines that I am consistent with to help me feel more balanced in my life. I am going to start by building a solid morning and night routine to help me get back on track and bring consistency back into my life.
READ AT LEAST 2 BOOKS A MONTH:
I love love love reading. I was a huge reader when I was younger, and once high school hit, I stopped reading for fun. Towards the end of 2020, I began getting back into reading. So this year, I want to make it a goal to read at least two books a month. I particularly would love being able to read one fiction and one nonfiction book per month.
PRIORITIZE SELF CARE:
I have become a workaholic ever since I began college. Even though I have graduated from college, I still find myself having a hard time balancing my work, blog, and basic self-care. I don’t mean doing face masks or getting my nails done (although I do love these things as self-care), I mean taking time away from my computer, phone, tv, and other forms of electronics to do things like journal, read, take a bath, or really anything that just calms my mind and stops me from constantly working.
TAKE CARE OF MY BODY BY FOCUSING ON WHAT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD RATHER THAN WHAT MAKES ME LOOK GOOD:
This is a huge goal I want to focus on this year. Last year I focused more so on achieving my “dream” body and what I looked like. Although I did have success thinking in terms of what would help me achieve that body, it wasn’t something that stuck, especially once the pandemic hit. I love working out and making healthy recipes so this year I want to focus more on how I feel than how I look, and I truly feel this will change my life in so many ways.
DRINK MORE WATER:
I know you are probably laughing reading this one because it is so cliche, but truthfully I NEED to drink more water. I suffer from chronic headaches and fatigue, and I think it boils down to my lack of water intake. This year I plan to buy a cute water bottle and work on drinking more water. It might sound crazy but I even am going to set reminders on my phone to help me keep up with it.
DIVE HEAD FIRST INTO BLOGGING:
I love blogging. It is such fun for me and is something I’ve wanted to do since the very beginning in high school but never had the guts to do or keep up with. This year, I want nothing more than to focus my energy and time on building this blog up. I’ve set up the framework to be able to achieve this goal and hopefully by the end of the year I have dug in my heels and started blogging more consistently! (My theme of the year is coming into play here too)
GROW MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MATT:
Matt and I have been dating for 7 years now, and he is my best best friend! We love doing things together but have found it is more difficult to spend quality time together when we are both working full time and working on different side projects. This year we want to make it a goal to on more dates and spend quality time together!
Although I could keep going on about my goals for 2021, these are the main ones I want to work on. I hope you guys are also taking the time to reflect on 2020 and write down your goals for 2021. I am so excited about this year, and I hope you are too!
